a simple method for private trader to track the trailing settlement price of May HSI:
1. on 5-minute chart of HSI (remember, not the futures chart of any month)
2. mark the present time, calculate th ...
In point number 4 above, the last clause should be.....SMA(16)'s latest reading is
ALMOST exactly the official calculation of this month's HSI settling price..... because I always found my final settlement price, i.e. the market close reading of SMA(64) on 5-minute HSI chart very slightly different from the official one.
Also, in point 5 above, I later found out that I was using the HSIC1 (equivalent to May HSI Futures), the reading stated was not a correct representation of the trailing settling price for HSI, even though it's for demonstration only.
So to demonstrate again, time is now 11:33, we use the latest reading of SMA(25), which reads 22526 as the latest trailing settlement price.
This is a very important reference for me as a speculator to determine whether to use options or the underlyings (HSI Futures) for swing trading in the rest of the last trading day.
